Timothy, a small time journalist, has a nice house with his wife in Mastic, Quebec with a circle of friends. Even though he has stumbled through most of his life, he now feels that he has missed something important which he tries to search out while travelling as a freelancer in Thailand. With his photographer friend Petre, from Holland, they encounter the politics of the country, food, and women. Timothy writes stories of this complex country for his newspaper back home about life in Thailand but when politics begin to explode, he is sent to Bangkok to cover the huge protests there.Timothy guiltily goes from one sexual encounter to another, but his wife is having an affair back home, or is she? The sex workers he meets at the Cherri Bar begin to be real people—daughters, mothers with children and family back in the farm villages which they support financially from their work. And being a good friend to Petre, Timothy tries to unravel why his friendships are always based on him being the supportive one.
